Who Is the Fuquay Varina Liions?

Fuquay-Varina is a community that emphasizes volunteerism and civic participation, with a longstanding history of service organizations. The Lion’s Club is one such organization, actively supporting various initiatives that benefit individuals and families.

Eighty-three years of service to the Fuquay-Varina Community

The Lion’s Club has contributed to both local and broader campaigns, with an ongoing focus on enhancing quality of life, especially for people with visual impairments. The club engages in a range of projects and programs designed to address community needs.

Founded in 1941, the Lion’s Club is among the earliest service organizations in Fuquay-Varina. Following Helen Keller's 1925 request at the Lions International Convention for the organization to become “The Knights of the Blind,” all Lions Clubs have prioritized Sight Preservation. The Fuquay-Varina Lions Club has historically raised funds through activities such as selling light bulbs and brooms made by people who are blind, holding events, and selling Christmas trees. Currently, they are running their 30th Charity Golf Tournament, having collected and distributed over one million dollars over their history.

In September 2022, the Fuquay Varina Lions Club Foundation was approved by the IRS as a 501(c)(3) public charity, which exempts it from federal income tax and allows donors to make tax-deductible contributions.
